Moslem Scarf

So I was looking into Islam and thinking about why Moslem women wear their cover. I asked both man and woman alike to hear their response "It's empowering towards women."

WHAT? This is a shock to most Americans for we are lead to believe that women are kept beneath men by this culture. Of course, that is what we are supposed to believe to help "liberate them and spread democracy." (Note, I talked to Iranians like myself)

In America, how do we view women. I'm not asking about what we are supposed to say, but what we actually see. Women are objects. When we look upon them, we judge them on their looks. We don't see a person, just another "ZOMG HOT GIRL." I fall victim to this too so don't think that I see myself any better. So how is their cover empowering?

With their cover, they are not judged by their looks. They are covered except for the face where they can be judged on intelligence. Husbands do not need to worry about their wives (as many husbands in America have a "jealousy problem") because their wives are not just a hot piece of meat, but another person that is respected among peers. There are even women in westernized civilization, high in power (mostly England and France) who take this covering to empower themselves...

I could go on, but then it'd be too long to read. So I just thought I'd give this outlook to those who are interested. Thank you for keeping up with my blogs!

  1. I guess most muslims are good people. It is the extremists which ruin their reputation. I guess there are extremists in many religions.

  4. Hmmmmmm... I get what you're getting at but I don't think its bound by religion or ethnicity or anything. Ignorance is a recent "hip" thing amongst the new generation.

  5. Hahaha nice layout :P

Good post...weird to think of that as the rationalization, though. I don't know if I agree with it, really...it seems a lot more like you said, like they're taking the power away from women...idk.

  7. On the flip side, many husbands force their wives to wear these scarfs. So which culture is truly more degrading to women? Beats me, take your pick.

  10. I always thought they were weird, but now I have a different attitude towards them.

  11. That could just be one point of view, many women of the culture are spreading away from that practice or making moves to get out of wearing the veils because they feel it is demeaning. Although many people view it differently

  12. It's both ways; a degrading way to keep them from power, and yet, some American converts feel this way.

  13. I concur with you, besides, I don't really like Islam, really, how do they claim to be the way they are when they're actually following a religion that blocks freedom of speech and freedom itself? It's silly, but oh well, take care man, following now!

  14. Hah... most of the people are ignorant and we must bear with it actually. I just hope humanity grows hard enough to understand that.

  20. You throw a bone to the dog does not mean you appreciate them.
You just want to feed them, for the very least.

  21. finally an intelligent post about the muslim population. usually it's just "we must kill them because they make their women dress like ninjas and then we must kill their women too because the jewish media said so"

  22. interesting and a different look at it. Often times, we see women covered up, and automatically think that they're the victim. Good way to look at it!

  23. People really misunderstand the Scarf and the Burka. Sometimes it's very oppressive, but MOST times in most modern Muslim countries, it isn't a law.

  25. I believe they should be able to wear one if they want and not if they don't want to. They shouldn't be punished and stoned for not wearing it. Followed
